Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

Welcome back and welcome to 2017! We can still say Merry Christmas as our beautiful Christmas season does not end until January 9th with the Baptism of our Lord. So, continue to enjoy the season!

This week, we celebrate the life of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton who was the first native-born American to be canonized. We are reminded of her dedication to the Eucharist, our Blessed Mother, and Catholic schools. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton established the first Catholic school in our country. As we look to celebrate Catholic Schools Week at the end of the month, let us pray that we may be servants to God as was Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Catholic Schools Week is January 29 – February 3. Our schools throughout the United States celebrate the uniqueness of these wonderful institutions. On Thursday, February 2nd, we will have annual Mass at Bishop Diego High School. All of the Catholic school students in Santa Barbara will celebrate Mass with many of our priests from our local parishes. Our regional bishop, Bishop Robert Barron will preside at this Mass. We look forward to this wonderful opportunity and are so blessed to have this special school community gathering.

Important Dates:
January 3: School Resumes
January 16: No School for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
January 17-27: STAR Testing Window
January 28: School Clean-Up Day
January 29-February 3: Catholic Schools Week
February 20: No School for Presidents’ Day
February 25: School Auction at Fess Parker

In Mary’s Love,

Ms. Michelle Limb, Principal

Prayer to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton:

Lord God, You blessed Elizabeth Ann Seton with gifts of grace as wife and mother, educator and foundress, so that she might spend her life in service to Your people. Through her example and prayers may we learn to express our love for You in love for others. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

St. Raphael, Pray for Us!
