Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

Please keep all of the people in Texas in your prayers as they continue to be devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

It was a wonderful first three days of school. Monsignor Jon walked around to visit all of the students and welcome them back to school! In talking to the students at all different grade levels, the common theme is that they missed their friends. For most of our students, St. Raphael School is just an extension of their family. A very special thank you to everyone that came to the Back to School BBQ last week. It was wonderful to see all of the returning families, welcome the new families to our community and all of students running around having fun!

Next Thursday, we have Back to School Night. We will kick off the evening at 5:30 pm with samples from Locally Grown Kids, and the main presentation will begin at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. We have a lot of important information to share with you this year that is new and engaging. We will talk about our Annual Fund and discover how essential it is for our school and some new programs that we are introducing this year. We look forward to sharing this important information, along with many new items we are fortunate to be rolling out this year. Parents will be excused to the classrooms at 6:30 pm for the teachers’ presentations. We will have two rounds of 15-minute presentations, giving you the opportunity to visit multiple classrooms. The goal is to have everyone on their way home by 7:00 pm so you can have some family time. Please note that Back to School Night is just for adults.

The St. Raphael Festival is right around the corner. We are looking for volunteers to work some of the booths and participate in this wonderful event. The festival is on Sunday, September 24th from Noon – 5:00 pm. We will need cakes for the cakewalk and help for all of the fun games! This will count toward your volunteer hours. Sign up here to volunteer:

A Prayer for Our Students

Dear God,
Thank you for the gift of education in every form.
As our children prepare to start a new year
May confidence be their foundation,
May grades be their guide and
May hope be their compass toward a bright future.
I pray they will have eyes to see
The needs of those around them
And a heart to love well.
May they face each day with positivity
Knowing that no matter
What comes their way,
They do not have to face it alone. Amen.
