Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

One year ago today, we celebrated the canonization of Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata! What a joyous day we had in our Church as Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa. By her example and through her intercession, may Saint Mother Teresa continue to inspire us to give our “hearts to love and their hands to serve,” starting with those closest to us. May we all continue to live and deepen our awareness of being in need of mercy and our willingness to extend mercy in our communities, in our families, and in our service to the poor. Let us all take Saint Mother Teresa’s actions and live them out daily as we are all called to become saints.

This Thursday, we have Back to School Night. We will kick off the evening at 5:30 pm with samples from Locally Grown Kids and the main presentation will begin at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. We have a lot of important information to share with you this year that is new and engaging. We will talk about our Annual Fund and discover how essential it is for our school and some new programs that we are introducing this year. We look forward to sharing this important information, along with many new items we are fortunate to be rolling out this year. Parents will be excused to the classrooms at 6:30 pm for the teachers’ presentations. We will have two rounds of 15-minute presentations, giving you the opportunity to visit multiple classrooms. The goal is to have everyone on their way home by 7:00 pm so you can have some family time. Please note that Back to School Night is just for adults.

The St. Raphael Festival is right around the corner. We are looking for volunteers to work some of the booths and participate in this wonderful event. The festival is on Sunday, September 24th from Noon – 5:00 pm. We will need cakes for the cakewalk and help for all of the fun games! This will count toward your volunteer hours. You can sign up to volunteer online at

This prayer was written on the wall in Saint Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.
