Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

Our school community is still reeling from tragedy, but we are coping through grace and prayers. As a community, it is uplifting to see how everyone comes together to support each other during difficult times. Last week, we felt the support from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office, our Regional Bishop Robert Barron, Bishop Garcia Diego High School, San Roque Parish, St. Louis de Montfort School, the Department of Catholic Schools, as well as many other local community members. We also had counselors on campus to support the teachers, staff, students, and parents. We will continue to offer support for as long as needed, and as always, my door is open to anyone who would like to meet with me. During Mass last Thursday, Monsignor Jon spoke of difficulties, darkness and evil that we all face in this broken world, but there is one thing that is always perfect and present: God’s infinite love.

Students have been enthusiastic about the Annual Fund and supporting our school. We are on our way to our $42,000 goal! Encourage your child to call grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles and Godparents to support our efforts in the Annual Fund! Remember all of the monies raised stay at St. Raphael School! You can bring your check to the school office or even donate online at https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/StRaphaelSchool/AnnualFund2017.html.   Let’s see how quickly we can reach not only our goal, but also 100% participation!

Our first school Mass is on Thursday at 10:00 am. Monsignor Jon will welcome the entire school community to another wonderful school year and also give a special blessing to our Student Council. Please mark your calendars to join us as we celebrate!

The St. Raphael Festival is just one week away. We are looking for volunteers to work some of the booths and participate in this wonderful event. The festival is on Sunday, September 24th from Noon – 5:00 pm. We will need cakes for the cakewalk and help for all of the fun games! This will count toward your volunteer hours. You can sign up to volunteer online atwww.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090B4BA5AB29A75-straphael4

Prayer for Tragedy

Lord of all compassion, we pray for all of those caught up in the midst of tragedy or disaster. For those who have lost life and those working to save life for those who are worried for people they love; for those who will see their loved ones no longer. Lord Have Mercy. For those in need of the peace that passes all understanding for all who turn to you in the midst of turmoil; for those who cry out to you in fear and in love, Lord Have Mercy. For those in confusion and those in despair; for those whose tears are yet to dry; for those in need of your unending love. Lord Have Mercy.
Amen.

St. Raphael, Pray for Us!
