Newsletter October 9, 2017

Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

The month of October in the Catholic Church is dedicated to the most Holy Rosary. All month long, our students pray a decade of the rosary for world peace. On October 12th, our Student Council will lead the student body in praying the living rosary together. It’s a beautiful way to invoke Our Blessed Mother for her continued guidance, love and support. As you will see at the bottom of this newsletter, the second joyful mystery is the next to pray as a family this week. I cannot help but think of what a perfect and beautiful gift God gave us in sending His Son in such a simple way. When Pope Francis was in the United States, his message was always something of simplicity and pure love, just like the perfect gift…Jesus!

We are busy preparing for our Grandparents Mass on Thursday, October 19th. Please invite grandparents or honorary grandparents for this special occasion. Mass will be at 10:00 am followed by a brief classroom visit and then lunch. This is such a wonderful day for our school community as our students spend some quality time with their grandma and/or grandpa! The last day to sign up for lunch is this Tuesday, October 17th.

All of our school programs are up and running. This past week, we welcomed back our Spanish teacher, librarian, music teacher, and specialized instructors. It’s fun to witness the active schedules of our faculty and the students’ engagement in the special classes. The “extras” at St. Raphael School make us the unique place that we all love.

Please note that we do not have school on Friday, October 20th for a teacher training in Santa Maria. Enjoy the long weekend.

October 12:
Living Rosary at 1:15 pm

In Mary’s Love,

Ms. Michelle Limb, Principal

During the next five weeks, please pray the rosary as a family. Each newsletter will contain one of the joyful mysteries.

The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation                            Spiritual Fruit:  Charity and Love

Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, who learns that she has conceived a child in her old age.  Their visit is marked by happiness and thanksgiving as they rejoice in the wonderful gifts of God.  Mary, with the Holy one inside of her, makes Elizabeth’s unborn child leap within her womb.  Though such a simple visit, both are moved with God’s love and strengthened by His Grace.  This mystery teaches us that we are to cherish our encounters with others.  Each person God puts in our path is an opportunity to love, and share in the blessings God has bestowed upon us.
