Dear St. Raphael Families,
Every so often, I have the wonderful opportunity to share some proud principal moments. This past week, the homecoming court at Bishop Garcia Diego High School was announced, and St. Raphael School is honored to share that four out of the six girls on the court are all alumni! Congratulations to Anna, Eliana, Tara, and Chelsea. We are extremely proud of you!
I share this because when our students leave us, they continue to shine and excel, embodying the very qualities we strive to instill at St. Raphael School. Just as the saints we honor on All Saints Day lived lives full of virtue and love, our students carry those same values forward. So many times, I hear from our local high schools that they can easily recognize a St. Raphael School graduate because of the respect they show others, their compassion, and their academic preparedness. It’s these qualities that also draw us closer to the lives of the saints, who serve as guiding examples of faith and kindness.
As we approach Halloween and All Saints Day, it’s important to remember that Halloween, or All-Hallows'-Eve, is the evening before All Saints Day, a time when the Church commemorates those who have attained heaven. This connection reminds us that we are all called to reflect the virtues of the saints in our daily lives—just as our alumni do.
Join us on Thursday for our Halloween Parade at 1:15 pm on the quad. Please ensure your child avoids scary costumes or accessories resembling weapons. After lunch, students will change into their costumes and participate in our lively parade, followed by our Fall Carnival on the school field. We hope to see you there!
This Friday is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Our 8th graders will be dressed as saints and will participate in Mass with our TK students. The saints, much like you and me, faced challenges and trials, but they dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to Jesus. We encourage you to spend time this month learning about some of the saints and their devotion. Join us for Mass at 10:45 am in the church to celebrate this meaningful day.
Additionally, Parent/Teacher conferences will be held from November 20 to November 22. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and set goals to continue supporting their education. Please note that during conference days, students will be dismissed at noon. After School Care will be available for students not picked up by 12:15 pm.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we help our students continue their journey toward becoming bright, compassionate, and successful individuals—just like the saints and our proud alumni.
