I hope this message finds you well as we embrace the start of "ordinary" time on the Church's calendar. This week's readings focus on the extraordinary acts of Jesus, particularly his profound ability to heal many individuals. Imagine the awe-inspiring scenes as people witnessed the miraculous healing power of Jesus. For those afflicted by illness or with loved ones in need, each healing became a powerful moment that reverberated through families.
In Jesus' time, physical illness held a greater weight than it does in our modern era, where medical science has alleviated some of the fears surrounding sickness. The strong desire of people to bring their sick to Jesus, seeking healing with a simple touch of his cloak, reflects the profound impact of these acts. While physical healings were undoubtedly acts of charity, it's essential to recognize that they served a greater purpose – preparing hearts to receive the spiritual healing of forgiveness. Let's reflect on the significance of Jesus' actions and ask Him, the ultimate Healer, to continue working miracles in our lives.
Looking ahead, we're excited to announce our second fundraiser of the year, marking the 60th anniversary of St. Raphael School. Save the date for Saturday, February 24th, at the Rockwood Women's Club, as we come together to celebrate this milestone and support our commitment to educating children in mind, body, and spirit. We kindly ask all families to contribute a minimum of $300 to make this event a success.
Additionally, Catholic Schools Week is fast approaching, spanning from January 29 to February 4. This nationwide celebration highlights the unique contributions of Catholic schools. On January 31st, we eagerly anticipate joining the annual Mass at Bishop Diego High School, where our students will come together with local priests for a special moment of unity within our school community.
Thank you for your continued support, and let's make these upcoming events memorable for our St. Raphael School community.
