Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,
Last week at daily Mass, we listened to the Gospel Matthew where Jesus says, “This is how you are to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” Yes, Jesus gave us the Lord’s Prayer. During Lent, our Student Council is leading the student body in praying the Our Father after our morning assembly. It’s our way as a school community to gather in prayer during this Lenten season.
During some personal Lenten reflection time, I read when Jesus told his disciples that Our Father knows all our needs, and that first and foremost, we must seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.” What a great message for the beginning of the Lenten journey to remind us that God is in charge, and we must put our trust in Him. During this wonderful season, please find ways to remember the wonderful faith-forming experiences and bring those encounters with us as we walk through life with our families, friends, and neighbors. Don’t forget to sign up for Lenten Gospel reflections from Bishop Barron at http://www.lentreflections.com/ or learning about the Mass from Father Rocky at https://relevantradio.com/father-rockys-40-lenten-lessons-mass/.
Please join us each Friday in Lent as the 8th graders present the Stations of the Cross for our community at 1:15 pm in the church.
Every Friday during Lent, we are selling $5 grilled cheese sandwiches served with fruit. You can also purchase tortilla chips with homemade salsa for $2. Please make sure to send your child/ren to school with money for lunch. Remember you can always come for a grilled cheese, too! Lunch is served from 12 - 12:35 pm.
