Dear St. Raphael School Families,
As we continue our Lenten journey, I wanted to share a recent personal experience about the importance of prayer and truly listening to God. During a Lenten podcast I was following, part of the session was dedicated to sitting in silence for five minutes. Now, I’m not one to sit quietly for long, so after about 60 seconds, I couldn’t help but fast forward through the remaining four minutes.
That evening, I attended the vigil Mass at San Roque Parish, and to my surprise, Father Bruce’s homily emphasized the importance of sitting in silence and listening to God. It truly felt like he was calling me out right there in the pew! Inspired by his words, I went home and listened to the entire podcast again, this time embracing the silence. To my amazement, I found myself feeling more patient, connected, and peaceful in my time with God.
This experience was a powerful reminder that God often speaks to us in the quiet moments, but we must be willing to pause, listen, and simply be present with Him.
As a community, we invite you to embrace these moments of silence and reflection. During this Lenten season, please join us every Friday at 1:15 pm for a moving presentation of the Stations of the Cross by our eighth graders. This beautiful tradition offers all of us a chance to deepen our spiritual reflection and grow closer to God.
On a lighter (and tastier) note, Fridays during Lent also bring a special treat to campus! For $5, enjoy our delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, with tortilla chips and homemade salsa available for $2, homemade cookies for $1, and juice for $1. Lunch is served from 12:00 - 12:35 pm. Parents, you’re always welcome to join us for a meal and connect with our school community!
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the growth and spiritual development of our St. Raphael School family. May God continue to bless you this Lenten season and may we all find moments of stillness to hear His voice.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
