Dear St. Raphael School Families,
As we embrace the beautiful month of October, we find ourselves commemorating significant events in both our faith and our school community. Here are some important updates and reflections for you:
This week, our Church marks the 106th anniversary of a truly extraordinary event that continues to inspire and strengthen our faith. On October 13, 1917, in the small village of Fatima, Portugal, nearly 70,000 people witnessed a miraculous phenomenon—the sun appeared to "dance" in the sky, a powerful confirmation of Mary's presence to three young schoolchildren. Mary, whom the children lovingly referred to as Our Lady of the Rosary, chose to reveal herself to these innocent souls, reminding us of Jesus' words in Matthew 19:14: "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
This October, we dedicate ourselves to the beautiful tradition of praying the rosary, reflecting on the significance of Mary's love and her special connection to our school community. My weekly letters to you are signed "In Mary's Love" to honor her and the role she plays in guiding our faith journey. The miracle of Fatima remains a testament to the power of faith, and at St. Raphael School, we strive to bring our students closer to Jesus every day.
As we approach Halloween, I would like to express my deep concern about a pressing issue affecting our nation – "rainbow fentanyl." The Drug Enforcement Administration has recently alerted the public to this alarming trend, where drug cartels are distributing highly addictive and potentially deadly fentanyl disguised as colorful candy to children and young people. This dangerous substance comes in various forms, including pills, powder, and blocks resembling sidewalk chalk.
It is crucial to understand that every color, shape, and size of fentanyl is extremely dangerous. If you come across any form of fentanyl, please do not handle it, and promptly contact the police. Our children's safety is of paramount importance, and it is our collective responsibility to stay informed and vigilant.
I'm delighted to share that we are making significant progress towards our Annual Fund goal of $50,000! The generosity of our school community has been truly heartwarming. If you haven't had a chance to contribute or share our Annual Fund information with your family and friends, there's still time. Remember, achieving 100% participation is not only a goal but a crucial factor in our ability to secure grants that benefit all our students. Please consider clicking here to donate and help us reach our goal and achieve 100% participation.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our school community. Together, we continue to strengthen our faith, protect our children, and provide the best educational experience for all our students.
Wishing you a blessed October filled with faith, love, and unity.

The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation Spiritual Fruit: Charity and Love
Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, who learns that she has conceived a child in her old age. Their visit is marked by happiness and thanksgiving as they rejoice in the wonderful gifts of God. Mary, with the Holy one inside of her, makes Elizabeth’s unborn child leap within her womb. Though such a simple visit, both are moved with God’s love and strengthened by His Grace. This mystery teaches us that we are to cherish our encounters with others. Each person God puts in our path is an opportunity to love, and share in the blessings God has bestowed upon us.
