Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,
We had a wonderful time celebrating Catholic Schools Week. The students enjoyed some fun non-uniform days, a livestream of Mass with the other Catholic school students in Santa Barbara, and enjoyed a little ice cream treat. Most importantly, we celebrated our wonderful school, our students, families, and teachers! Thank you for being an integral part of our St. Raphael School community!
Among the beautiful, meaningful and solemn ceremonies of the Catholic Church is the gathering of the faithful on Ash Wednesday on February 17th. This special day begins our Lenten journey. It is the start of 40 days of prayer, penance, and almsgiving as we prepare ourselves to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. As part of our Lenten journey together, we will collect loose change for our homeless brothers and sisters. Each student will go home with a little coin box, and we ask that you either use it for loose change or write small notes and prayers for those in need.
In this week’s Tuesday folder, each family will receive 12 raffle tickets to sell for our annual auction in April. We thank you in advance for generously supporting our second fundraiser of the year.
This Friday, February 12th, we do not have school for a teacher in-service day. We also will not have school on Monday, February 15th as we honor Presidents’ Day, which was also President George Washington’s birthday. Get ready to enjoy your long weekend!
