Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,

As we enter this second week of Advent, we re-light the candle of hope and now also light the second purple candle oflove. We know that God is love. We remember with thankful hearts the gift of Jesus, who came as a babe in a manger, lived and loved among us, was killed on a cross, and rose! Love endures forever.  We must think of Mary and her anticipation as she awaited the birth of Our Lord and Savior.  In a similar manner we should be anticipating and preparing the way of the Lord.  Mary was willing to do whatever God wanted of her. She is a good example for us to follow.  Who are some of the other good examples in our lives?  May we always thank God for being there to help us along our way in this life.  Hoping and praying that this season of Advent brings us all closer to Jesus.

Please join us on Wednesday, December 8th and we celebrate a school Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception at 10:45 am in the church.  It’s a wonderful time to come together on this Holy Day of Obligation during the Advent season!  Our 3rd graders have been working hard on the special Mass for our school community.

In case you missed last week’s newsletter, you might be interested in receiving daily emails from our regional bishop.  You can sign up for free at  Join Bishop Robert Barron and thousands of others in this beautiful time of waiting and anticipation for the birth of Jesus!

Our annual school Christmas program is on Thursday, December 16th at 1:15 pm on the school field. You will want to mark your calendars for this beautiful celebration. The title of this year’s show is “Shepherds, Sheep, and a Savior!”  Get ready for one-of-a-kind songs that will keep you singing for days!  Please bring your lawn chairs so you can sit back and enjoy the show!
