Dear St. Raphael School Family and Friends,
Oh, what a Jog-a-Thon this year! We want to thank our sponsors and donors for making our annual Jog-a-Thon one of the most successful! If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to submit your Jog-a-Thon money by Friday, May 17th.
The month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. As is our tradition during the month of May, students will take home a statue of Mary to pray the rosary as a family, we celebrate May Crowning, and our 2nd graders receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. In May of 2002, Saint John Paul II said, "Today we begin the month dedicated to Our Lady, a favorite of popular devotion. In accord with a long-standing tradition of devotion, parishes and families continue to make the month of May a 'Marian' month, celebrating it with many devout liturgical, catechetical and pastoral initiatives." The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Church, and therefore the example, as well as the guide and inspiration of everyone who, in and throughout the Church, seeks to be the servant of God and man, and the obedient agent of the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Please join us on Thursday at 10:45 am as we honor Our Mother, crowning her Queen of Heaven and thanking her for her "fiat" as mother of Jesus. Please remember to bring in flowers on Thursday morning for our May Crowning.
We will have our annual chalk festival, iRaphael, on Friday, May 17 at 1:30 on the quad. If you are still in need of volunteer hours, please plan on staying at school after drop-off time.

Hail Holy Queen:
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
