Dear St. Raphael School Families and Friends,
Last week at daily Mass, we listened to the Gospel Matthew where Jesus says, “This is how you are to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” Yes, Jesus gave us the Lord’s Prayer. During Lent our Student Council is leading the student body in praying the Our Father after our morning assembly. It’s our way as a school community to gather in prayer during this Lenten Season.
During some personal Lenten reflection time, I read when Jesus told his disciples that Our Father knows all our needs, and that first and foremost, we must seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.” What a great message for the beginning of the Lenten journey to remind us that God is in charge, and we must put our trust in Him. During this wonderful season, please find ways to remember the wonderful faith-forming experiences and bring those encounters with us as we walk through life with our families, friends, and neighbors. Please join Bishop Barron’s daily Lenten reflections by signing up at http://www.lentreflections.com.

Simeon said to Mary his mother: "This child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed. And you yourself shall be pierced with a sword, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be laid bare." O Mother of my Savior, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be | A man named Simon of Cyrene, was coming in from the fields, and they pressed him into service to carry the Cross. Simon, coming in from the fields, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be | He who welcomes You, welcomes me; and he who welcomes me, welcomes Him who sent me. And I promise that whoever gives a cup of cold water will not want for a reward. A woman named Veronica Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be |
